Last week our AC broke and we had to spend a night at some friends'. It was the day that they had heat advisories and told people without AC to head to the mall or library to cool off. By the time we left our house it was 87 degrees inside and the boys were stinky, red little sweat-boxes.

Friday night there were some pretty big storms north of us. We watched the lightning and the clouds for quite a while. Pretty crazy.
Then on Sunday morning at about 3am we were awakened by some terrible wind. We watched the weather channel and they told people living in trailer homes to seek shelter. We usually watch our neighbors to see if they go to the shelter since I would probably go to the shelter every time there was a thunderstorm - only it's not so comfortable in the shelter. No one in our neighborhood moved so we stayed put. And I'm glad we did. There was so much debris flying around I was afraid we were going to get hurt. The boys were bawling so we all sat in the living room together watching the weather channel. Some places in Ames lost power but our lights only flickered.
When we went to church in the morning I was so glad that nothing happened to us. There were trees down all over the place. Some of them split in half, some of them uprooted. It was a pretty powerful storm. We were glad that we only had a little shingle damage and we stayed safe. Sunday night we rode around and took pictures of the trees.
