Upward - Practice and First Game

Asher has been enjoying Upward flag football even though he's not always so fast to admit that. I'm wondering if he will always be a complainer or if he's just good at being assertive of his likes and dislikes. He struggles with not being the best (which is a lot like his momma). At his first practice he was upset that he wasn't the fastest runner and he was sad that he didn't catch the ball. But we told him that everyone has their special talents and abilities and God only calls us to do our best not be the best. His first memory verse was "There are many different gifts but they are all given by the same Spirit" 1 Corinthians 12:4. It's nice to know we were teaching him the same things as they're working on as a team. :)

Phin playing around while Asher practices.
I think when it comes time for his turn on the field he'll be more prepared...and so will we. :)

His first game was great!! It was a perfect kindergarten game with lots of running, tripping, passing to a player on the sidelines, running the wrong direction, and more chaos than I'm used to. :) But it was nice to know that Asher is "normal" for his age (I'm still getting used to having boys). The weather was great and I even got pink cheeks from sitting in the sun. Yesterday's game was chilly and rainy. Asher would say, "Do they know it's raining?!?" :)

Getting some instructions from Coach Randy before the first game.

Waiting to hike the ball - he's pretty good at that. :)

"Did you get that, Dad?"

Showing off his good "defense" by running with his arms out.

Phin watching the game with Grant (a friend from church).

"Good game!"

We're getting to know some great families and we are so thankful for our patient coaches!! What a blessing they are to the boys and their parents. :) It's gonna be a great season!
