Hey all! Boy do we have surprise for all of you! Yesterday Jessica gave birth to our second child. He is a boy that was born at 11:59am on Nov. 23, 2007. He was 19 inches long, and was 6 lbs. 1 oz. If you are wondering, our due date was actually December 19, so we went a little early (seems as if there is some kind of trend going on here). His name is Phineas Liam. Phinehas was a priest in the Old Testament in the Bible. To read more about him, you can read Numbers 25. Liam is a version of Jessica's dad's full name: William.
We had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and our doctor said that Jessica probably won't go for another 2 weeks. Well, on Thursday morning she was seeing spots in church (Holy Spirit??) and later part of her face and hand were feeling numb. She thought she was having a seizure or something like that. That night my mom and sister-in-law took her to the nursing home, where my mom works, to check her blood pressure. It was high and so they took her to the hospital to get it checked again and it was still high so a doctor wanted to see her. They took some blood and ran some other tests and her contractions were about 3 minutes apart.
Some Sudoku to pass the time
The doctor talked with our doctor in Ames and another specialist and they said that he should induce Jessica. So, they broke her water and she progressed pretty well naturally. Around 7am, the next morning they gave her Pitosin to help with the progression of the contractions. At about 8am, she had an epidural and then after some easy pushing, my Frontier Wife gave birth to our second son!
