Rebound 2007 - Daytona Beach

We were in Daytona Beach, Florida for several days this past month on the National Evangelical Free Church Youth Pastors' and Wives Retreat called Rebound. We went last year and it was in South Padre, Texas. The weather in Daytona was warm and around 80 degrees everyday. But it was mostly cloudy. The sun would shine in the morning, and by about 10 am it was cloudy. And it rained off and on all day, too. But since it was so warm, we still played in the ocean and the hot tub even when it was raining.

One day we mini-golfed all day with Brent and Sue. They had several nice mini-golf courses in the area, and we chose Pirate's Cove. You get as many holes as you can play from 9am-5pm for $12 per person. We played 4 rounds of 18 holes. It was great because they had two courses. Our last round wasn't real official since we played in "speed mode." But we laughed a lot and I got the most holes in one! Yay!! Brent and Jonathan were close and Sue had some too.

There were about 35 couples at the retreat and a few singles. The speaker was mediocre. We felt like we were getting a book report and not useful, refreshing information. But it was great meeting new couples and reconnecting with "old" friends. It's nice to get together with other people in youth ministry because they can relate so well and they're going through the same challenges and joys that we are. It was a great time for Jonathan and I to reconnect too. It was great timing since the baby will be here in only 6 1/2 more weeks. We know it will be super-busy then so it was nice to have this time alone together.

Here are some more pictures of our trip:
