"Advent" Calendar

Asher doesn't really understand Advent. We explained that we were excited about Jesus coming as a baby so we get ready to worship Him on Christmas. My Grandma Joyce sent two Advent calendars for the boys. We told Asher that each day he gets to open a square and have a piece of chocolate. So, after dinner we found the square marked "1" and he had a chocolate. He wanted more, but we told him that we needed to wait and he'd get a piece every day.

Jonathan put Asher to bed last night because I was at a Women's Ministry meeting. Jonathan decided not to put the gate up in front of Asher's door. He did really well at Grandpa and Grandma's house so we thought this would be a good time to transition.

Jonathan had a meeting early this morning and kissed me before he left and I went back to sleep. I woke up at 8am and was thinking how nice of the boys to sleep in. I was tired after being up with the boys over the weekend so I was pleasantly surprised, until I peeked in Asher's room and he wasn't there. Uh-oh!

I ran into the living room and he wasn't there...but I heard munching in the kitchen. I came around the corner to find Asher finishing off his Advent chocolates. Yep, they're all gone and the packaging torn to shreds. This is a good lesson for me: I need to get disciplined about getting up on time...before the boys. I've been using them as my little alarm clocks, but that's not going to work anymore. And, really, it's about time.

PS. Thanks, Grandma Joyce, for the Advent calendar. It was definitely enjoyed!!

Classic. It's hilarious because I can see my own children doing the same thing.

Your dad and I remember when you did this Jessica to your sisters Advent Calendar a few years back. A little chocolate is good for even Asher. It is a memory to cherish.
